I’m sure like me, you've had your fair share of frustration with ribs. They're either not tender enough that you have to work to eat them or the recipe is super complicated. I have been attempting pork ribs recipes since we started raising our own pork back in 2020 and had yet to find a way to prepare them that I truly enjoyed. That is, until I finally stumbled across this method and made it my own. This recipe is SUPER simple. You just need a crockpot and an oven. Plus, the prep is minimal!
Ingredients
- 1 rack of Shenk Family Farm St. Louis Ribs (2-3lb)
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup of your favorite bbq sauce or homemade subbing bone broth for the water
This recipe is 4 servings.
Cooking Steps
- Remove the ribs from their packaging.
- Using a knife, loosen the membrane from the back of the ribs and use a paper towel to grip and gently remove. This will help all the seasonings to soak in better and for meat to tenderize as it cooks
- In a bowl, add all the dry spices and mix.
- Rub these spices onto the outside of the ribs to coat.
- Place your ribs into the crockpot and pour 3/4 cup of your bbq sauce over top, making sure each piece gets a drizzle.
- Cook on low for 10 hours.
- Gently remove the ribs onto a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
- Brush on the remaining 1/4 cup of bbq sauce.
- Broil for 3-5 minutes or until sauce is bubbling and caramelizing on top.
- If you prefer to grill, you can place on a piece of aluminum foil over high heat, around 500 degrees. Close the lid and grill for 3-5 minutes.
- To serve, cut in between the bone thru the meat, so that each person gets 2-3 bones worth of ribs.
- ENJOY!
